Marshall Land Systems Supplies UOR Deployable Workshop in 7 Days
Cambridge, 5th March 2009; The UK MoD’s Viking all terrain vehicles deployed in Afghanistan are being upgraded with the help of a deployable workshop supplied by Marshall SV (MSV) part of Marshall Land Systems, the Cambridge based specialist vehicle and shelter manufacturers.

Under an urgent operational requirement (UOR) contract MSV fitted out an expandable shelter as a workshop and delivered it to the customer in seven days. The workshop has already been deployed into theatre and is in use on the upgrade programme for the Viking BVS10 All Terrain Vehicle.
The UOR called for a workshop which was transportable and could be deployed in areas where there was the potential of hostile fire.
“MSV really did a great job on this. They fully committed to the UOR and went to great lengths to meet the almost impossible delivery deadline. Their efforts have paid real dividends because the roll-out was completed by the 18 February – a full seven weeks early,” said Graham Lawrence, Viking UOR Project Manager from the MoD’s Light Armoured Systems Integrated Project Team.
“The Workshop is a superb facility and will be used for a series of UORs throughout the summer. It is very popular with the Equipment Support Staff as it is fully air conditioned and equipped with excellent storage and workbench facilities. Capable of being picked up by a DROPS vehicle or flown as an underslung load, it also has the potential of being moved to the forward operating bases if required,” added Graham Lawrence.
“This contract demonstrates Marshall Land Systems’ ability to deliver a quality solution rapidly to customer requirements,” said Peter Callaghan, Chief Executive of Marshall Land Systems. “We were fortunate in having the base shelter available, but if we had needed to we could have manufactured one in three days.”
He added “Our experience of designing the Deployable Machine Shop, which we are in the middle of supplying, gave us the agility to respond to this requirement rapidly.”
