ENGINEERING & DESIGN - MSV

MSV has both experience and knowledge in the delivery of design and manufacture of specialist vehicles. These specialist vehicle range from busses and custodial vehicles to brewery drays and military vehicles. The specialist military vehicle capability has included the ubiquitous Bedford and Land Rover "military specials" and the most modern military logistic vehicle the MAN Support Vehicle for the British Army.

For the Support Vehicle contract MSV through, MVE, have had to design a load bed capable of carrying some 700 different loads on four different chassis. The resulting high technology load bed complements the cross country and road performance of the MAN truck to provide the safest and steadiest platform the many and varied loads. MSV remain the design authority for many of the load configurations such as the flat bed, troop transport and the winch and crane variants.

Similar design and engineering skills are brought to bear on the shelter side of the business. The world famous "double expandable" (3 in 1) "Matrix" shelter has been selected for a number of programmes because it brings MSV's acknowledged capability in the provision of hot and cold environmental protection, CBRN, EMP and EMC protection and capability. These same standards are brought to single and single expandable (2 in 1) shelters. These shelters can be based on 10, 14 and 20 ft ISO configurations.

Recent uses of this range of shelters have included the Norwegian Deployable Surgical Facilities the Watchkeeper and Astor Ground Control Stations and vehicle based control stations and both ground based and vehicle based communications hubs, the Swedish FMV communications and command and control shelters. Most recently the BAE Insyte Herti System has used MSV shelters and the UK MOD has selected MSV to be the preferred supplier for the Deployable Machine Shop. Integrating these many uses into standard footprint designs requires high tech design and engineering skills across many disciplines.
