MSV through MVE is an active partner in the UK Logistic Support Vehicle Programme. The Support Vehicle which was recently declared "in service to time and cost" is one of the UK MOD's Defence Equipment and Support Agency's top twenty programmes. To deliver such a prestigious programme to cost, time and performance requires considerable manufacturing skill and programme management skills.
This was achieved by the commissioning of a state of the art manufacturing facility for MVE at Mildenhall in Suffolk. This factory was acquired by MSV in Oct 2006 and in April 2007 having been completely refurbished; re-laid out and re-equipped the factory was producing 6 load beds a day. An investment of £15M for property, equipment and above all training brought to fruition by MSV's own programme and project management team in 7 months. The training was to enable use of state of the art processes such as e dipping for enhanced coating application and a robotic welding system which makes 3000 welds in two hours to put together 300 different components in each load bed. High tech manufacture for a high tech item of world class equipment.
MSV deploys similar techniques in the shelter manufacturing side of its business. If the manufacturing capability can not match the design capability the EMC, EMI, EMP CBRN and hot and cold environmental protection capabilities would not be possible. By keeping manufacture of key components in house MSV can achieve better quality of engineering, greater agility in design and delivery and greater integrity for our customers but more importantly for those members of the armed and civil protection services that have to operate in the shelters.
