Maintenance Specialists get Front Line Workshop Facilities

Cambridge, 8th September 2009;  The first of the Deployable Machine Shops (DMS) destined for Front Line Units manufactured by Marshall SV, part of Cambridge based Marshall Land Systems, have achieved service acceptance by the UK Ministry of Defence.

This key milestone, which is an important step in the programme, will allow the Logistic Support Date to be achieved.  This date is the point at which the user is in a position to be able to support the solution being used by the end customer.

“This is a great achievement coming as it does to cost and to programme and confirms Marshall’s capabilities in delivering quality solutions to its customers,” said Peter Callaghan, Chief Executive of Marshall Land Systems.

These DMS are the first of over 44 units to be supplied to the Royal Marines, REME and the Royal Air Force before the end of 2009.

The DMS will enable the maintenance specialists to carryout front line support milling, turning and finishing mechanical parts and provide space for basic testing and repair of electrical equipment and servicing of much of the complex equipment now in service.

The units have been designed for easy deployment by road, rail, air (C130J/K, C17 and underslung from a Chinook), or sea to wherever they are required in the world.
